Poor Boy’s Banter

This episode is all about football!  We discuss some of our old toys and collectibles from our childhood...the plastic collectible NFL helmets found in 25 cent vending machines, NFL team pencils, helmet magnets found in potato chip bags, and the rarely intact NFL Action Team Mate action figure (those things are usually in pieces nowadays thanks to rotten rubber bands...but I rebuilt mine!).
PLUS: We talk Madden video games since it's that time of year when the new iteration is released.  We play a game of a particular Madden that we haven't played before, a PS2 version that we have hit with some technical magic to make it look better than anyone thought it could!  And it's still fun!

In this episode, we talk about some vacations we took while kids.  We briefly visit Tweetsie Railroad (and talk about Phillip
s dad overcoming his fear of heights), pre-Dollywood Silver Dollar City (and the beloved Flooded Mine Ride - RIP), and the Land of Oz (this Dorothy came from North Carolina, not Kansas).  Also, Roger's dad introduces Roger and Phillip to the wonderful deliciousness of the Arby's Ham and Swiss breakfast croissant from back-in-the-day.

In this episode, we talk about the day we got cable TV.  The cable guy did not have great social skills, but neither did Roger.  Plus, we mention Godzilla, Skinemax, (uh, I mean Cinemax), Benny Hill, the drawbacks of antenna TV, Roger changing channels with the power of his voice, recording Johnny Carson and Saturday Night Live, and lots of other things...we were all over the place in this episode.

In this episode, we honor our fathers for Father's Day.  Both of our fathers have passed but we wanted to celebrate them with some stories that respect their memory and pay deserved reverence for the men that they were.
 
We discuss our dads' ability and willingness to address function over form, their ingenuity and engineering skill, and being good role models.  Included: One dad defies convention by selling Avon while the other addresses our tendency to "sport cuss" at a young age with a restrained act of behavior modification that made it's point without a single word being spoken.

Join us this time as we talk about the era when going to McDonald's was a special treat and not an everyday thing.  When we were kids, a meal at McDonald's was a big deal, not a convenience as it is seen nowadays.  We talk about graduating to "big boy" status of getting a Big Mac instead of just a cheeseburger, Star Trek Happy Meals, McDonaldland calendars, a McDonald's Grand Opening that attracted half the town, and Roger trying to avoid getting in trouble by telling his parents his Big Mac may have had a previous owner.

This is it!  Our first full-length episode!  It's our first foray into the world of podcasting so please be gentle ;)  
In this episode, listen to us make some rookie podcast mistakes, but more importantly, hear us talk about a local convenience store that was everything a young boy could want (candy, trading cards, and arcade games).  But, our transgressions catch up with us and we suffer the consequences.
